"Feast Of Trumpets"
(September 25, 2008)

Feast of Trumpets: September 30, 2008
Day of Atonement:
October 9, 2008
Feast of Tabernacles:
October 13-21, 2008

God gave Israel the Law through Moses. At that time, God commanded His people to recognize and celebrate seven yearly feasts/events: three "major" feasts and four "minor feasts/events". The three major feasts were, and still are:

(1) Passover: Israel left her bondage to Egypt; and approximately 1400-1500 years later, Christ was crucified and resurrected during Passover, thus setting mankind free from bondage to satan and evil.

(2) Pentecost: Fifty days after leaving Egypt, Israel received the spoken, and then written, Law at Mt Sinai, and fifty days after Jesus was resurrected, all who waited in the upper room in Jerusalem were baptized in the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues, while all bystanders heard them in their own language, or as God "prophesied" through them. From that time forward God’s Law is written in His heart in you. As you are baptized in the Holy Spirit you literally receive God’s nature and character within <Lk 17:21>.

(3) Feast of Tabernacles: In remembrance of the booths/tabernacles that Israel lived in during their forty years in the wilderness. This feast is, as yet, unmarked by any spectacular event within Christianity. There are two minor feasts that accompany the major feast, the Feast of Tabernacles: Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement.

The dates of Israel's Feasts change from year to year. ‘Tishri' is the Hebrew name of the seventh month on the Jewish calendar. This month corresponds to our months of September and October, and lasts 30 days. There are three connected events during this month. The first event is called "Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah)"; the second is called "Day of Atonement (Yom Kipper)". Yom Kippur, or the Day Of Atonement, is/was the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. The third event is "Tabernacles (Booths or INGATHERING)". This event, TABERNACLES or INGATHERING, is also the last of the three "major" feasts; and all males were required to attend the three "major" Feasts at the main tabernacle/Temple. After the stationary temple was built in Jerusalem, all males had to attend these three feasts in Jerusalem.

Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Passover Feast when He was crucified; and fifty days later, the Hebrew males were present in Jerusalem, from the various countries, to celebrate Pentecost when God’s people were given His Holy Spirit. All three feasts are celebrated by Jews today. I believe that Christ Jesus is most likely to return for His people, and/or the Wedding Feast, during this time. Please read "The Feast of Tabernacles and Christ’s Ingathering", by Chris Williams, for more details as to why I believe this.

The New Unger's Bible Dictionary informs us, under Festivals, "The Seventh New Moon, or Feast of Trumpets (Heb. yom teru`a, "day of blowing," Num 29:1). The feast of the New Moon, which fell on the seventh month, or Tishri. This differed from the ordinary festivals of the new moon because of the symbolic meaning of the seventh or sabbatical month and partly, perhaps, because it marked the beginning of the civil year. This month was distinguished above all the other months of the year by the multitude of ordinances connected with it, the first day being consecrated to sacred rest and spiritual employment, the tenth being the Day of Atonement, whereas the fifteenth began the feast of Booths (Tabernacles, KJV)...

This day was observed as a feast day, in the strict sense, by resting from all work, and as a holy (a)convocation, by the blowing of horns. In later times, while the drink offering of the sacrifice was being poured out, the priests and Levites chanted (b)Ps 81, whereas in the evening sacrifice they sang (b)Ps 29. Throughout the day trumpets were blown at Jerusalem from morning to evening. In the Temple it was done even on a Sabbath, but not outside its walls... {see Heb13:11-13} This significance of the seventh month is indicated by the sounding of trumpets, whereby the congregation present a memorial of themselves loudly and strongly BEFORE {in the presence of} Jehovah, calling on him to vouchsafe the promised blessings of grace {Spirit of Grace} in fulfillment of his covenant" (Keil, Arch., 2:10). The fact that Tishri was the great month for sowing might easily have suggested the thought of commemorating on this day the finished work of creation, and thus the feast of Trumpets came to be regarded as the anniversary of the beginning of the world. The rabbis believed that on this day God judges all men, and that they pass before Him as a flock of sheep passes before a shepherd." (from. Originally published by Moody Press of Chicago, Illinois. (a) Convocation: "something called out, i.e. a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal:- (KJV) assembly, calling, convocation, reading".

(b) Suggested Reading: Psalms 81 and 29; "China Pushes The World Into The Deep ("Vision" and "Prophecy").

Old Testament TRUMPETS:
Dake's Bible notes say, that in the Old Testament, "trumpets" were used for several reasons: (two trumpets made of silver were used):

(1) "to call assemblies, for war, for journeying, and for making camps : "When they shall blow them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the DOOR OF THE TABERNACLE {TEMPLE} OF THE CONGREGATION." (Num 10:3)

(2) When both trumpets were blown all Israel shall assemble at the door of the outer court.

(3) When one is used, then the princes of Israel shall gather {the princes which {were the heads of thousands over the nation of Israel}.

(4-5) When you blow an alarm the three camps on the south ...shall take their journey. (5) When you blow the 2nd time, the three camps on the north... shall take their journey {east and west etc.}

(6) If you go to war, then you shall blow an alarm.

(7) In the day of gladness, in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow with your trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over peace offerings AS A MEMORIAL TO {IN REMEMBRANCE OF} THE LORD {Jesus’/our Father}."

We know that Jerusalem will be replaced with NEW Jerusalem, Christ’s Bride <Rev 21:2>; and that the physical temple is replaced with Jesus Christ and God (our Father) <Rev 21:22>.

Trumpets were blown to announce a new King...

(1 King 1:32) "King David said, ‘Call in Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.’ When they came before the king, he said to them: ‘Take your lord's servants with you and set Solomon my son on my own mule and take him down to Gihon. There have Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel. Blow the trumpet and shout, "Long live King Solomon!" Then you are to go up with him, and he is to come and sit on my throne and reign in my place. I have appointed him ruler over Israel and Judah {tribe thru which Jesus was born}... And Zadok the priest took an horn of {anointing} oil {always symbolic of the Holy Spirit} out of the TABERNACLE, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, Long live King Solomon. And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them. (KJV)

(II Ki 9:13) "Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king." (KJV)

This time of year, (a)began the harvest of crops, in Israel. The Feast of Trumpets precedes (in time) the Feast of Atonement and The Feast of Tabernacles, also called the INGATHEING and the New Moon Feast.

(a) "began the harvest of crops": Suggested Reading: January 16, 2007 "3 ½ Years Are ... The Final Harvest As You Know It"

(Lev 23:23) "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, A MEMORIAL OF BLOWING OF TRUMPETS, an holy convocation {Rehearsal}" (KJV).

Grant Jeffrey in "Armageddon Appointment With Destiny", says the following regarding the Feast Of Trumpets: "As soon as the new moon was sighted in eastern Israel, the watchers would trumpet the signal from hill to hill until the signal finally reached the Temple. Then the high Priest {Christ Jesus is our High Priest} would blow the ram's horn (the Shofar) and announce the beginning of the New Year.

Rosh Ha'shanah, the ancient New Years day for Israel as well as most of the middle eastern cultures, is celebrated on the first day of Tishri. Jewish tradition reveals its four-fold meaning:

(1) NEW YEAR's day
(2) the day of REMEMBRANCE
(3) the day of JUDGEMENT
(4) the day of BLOWING THE SHOFAR (THE RAM'S HORN)

On this day (a)Isaiah, chapters 60 and 61, teaches of that long awaited day when the Lord is revealed as King and He will be accepted as the ruler of the world..."

(a) Suggested Reading: Is 60 and 61

Mr. Grant states, "the Feast of trumpets, marked a new beginning for Israel as they accepted once again God's Covenant." For us, who have received the FULLNESS of God's Covenant, who is His Son Jesus Christ, it is a day of celebration.

Jesus teaches us in Matthew 24:29-31, "IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TRIBULATION of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and (a)the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds {heavenly host} of heaven with power and great glory. AND HE WILL SEND HIS ANGELS WITH A GREAT SOUND OF A TRUMPET, AND THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER HIS ELECT FROM THE FOUR WINDS, FROM ONE END OF HEAVEN TO THE OTHER. (NKJ)

(a) "TRIBULATION": Sometime between September 17-24, 2008 God said, while I was in prayer: "You are in Tribulation". Suggested Reading: "3 ½ Years Are ... The Final Harvest As You Know It".

(b) "the powers of the heavens will be shaken": Suggested Reading: January 5, 2008 "This Generation Will Be Shaken" & "The Earth Quakes and SHAKES" (2001)

God will use the trumpet to announce the day of the Lord: "Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; FOR THE DAY OF THE LORD IS COMING, for it is at hand" (Joel 2:1; NKJ)

In Zechariah 9:8-17 we are told:

"I will camp around My house because of the army, because of him who passes by and him who returns. No more shall an oppressor pass through them {Christ’s army, people}, for now I have seen with My eyes. Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; he is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem; the battle bow shall be cut off. He shall speak peace to the nations; his dominion shall be 'from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.'

As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you. For I have bent Judah, My bow, fitted the bow with Ephraim, and raised up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece {pagans}, and made you like the sword of a mighty man. Then the LORD will be seen over them, and His arrow will go forth like lightning. THE LORD GOD WILL BLOW THE TRUMPET, AND GO WITH WHIRLWINDS {Spirit; Strong’s Concordance} from the south. The LORD of hosts will defend them; they shall devour and subdue with slingstones. They shall drink and (a)roar as if with wine; they shall be filled with blood {Christ’s communion blood} like basins, like the corners of the altar. The LORD their God will save them in that day, as the flock of His people. (b)For they shall be like the jewels of a crown, lifted like a banner over His land— For how great is its goodness and how great its beauty! Grain {communion: flesh of Christ} shall make the young men thrive, and new wine {communion: blood of Christ} the young women." (NKJ).

(a) "roar as if with wine": Acts 2:13: all of Acts 2: Pentecost

(b) "For they shall be like the jewels of a crown, lifted like a banner over His land": Suggested Reading: February 3, 2008 "Jewels Of Our Father's Flesh"

AND MY FAVORITE

(1 Cor 15:42) "So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam {Jesus} became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, AT THE LAST TRUMPET. For the trumpet will sound, and (a)the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory’. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (NKJ).

(a) "the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed": [Matt 27:51-53] "Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many." NKJV

Jesus sounded like a trumpet in Revelations, when He summoned John to His presence:

(Rev 1:10) "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last"..." (NKJ)

I believe Jesus Christ will call us into ONE ACCORD, in ONE PLACE, at ONE TIME with a blast of His Voice, which will sound like the silver trumpets! This is the time of the ULTIMATE COMMUNION in REMEMBRANCE of Him, and with Him. It is the Eternal INGATHERING.

Our article "FEAST OF THE TABERNACLES and CHRIST'S INGATHERING" states: "the Ingathering Feast is closely associated with the Wedding ceremony between the Groom (Jesus Christ) and His Bride (all believers, past, present and future). The Ingathering will be the REAPING of the firstfruits of our Lord, into the ONE PLACE, at ONE TIME; and WE WILL ALL BE IN ONE ACCORD through the Holy Spirit. Some believe the church will be raptured, or taken up. It may be, however, I'm not sure that these two events are one.

God will bring His Beloveds into ONE ACCORD, at ONE TIME, in ONE PLACE. The TABERNACLE is the Holy of Holies, or the core/center of the Temple, who is Jesus Christ and our Father.

God’s goal is to GATHER us back INTO HIMSELF. In order to teach us what He desires, He has set before us a physical image, called the TABERNACLE. This message is particularly important every year between September and October, and gives every believer a better understanding of what God has promised us in eternity. Praise God!

Rev 21:9-22:1
"Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, ‘Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife.’ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy {New} Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal...

The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones {jewels}: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. NKJV
