"Feast Of Tabernacles"
[This article is very
similar to the article "Feast Of Tabernacles and Christ's Ingathering".
Much of the matter covered in "Christ's Ingathering" is also repeated in the
following article. This article was actually written in a different year, and as you
will see a slight more insight has been given. Read this article to mentally
summarize all that this celebration season prophetically holds for Christians.]
THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES:
The Feast of Tabernacles is one of the three major yearly feasts, in which all the Hebrew
men had to attend the Temple celebration in Jerusalem. That is not to say that
families etc did not, or could not attend. They did. All these feasts were to
be ones of Joy and Thanksgiving to God.
The Feast of Tabernacles, or Booths, is the only one, of the three Feasts which all
males had to attend, that some major Christian event has not transpired. The first feast
is/was Passover (Christ's death and resurrection) and the second is/was Pentecost (Christ
gave mankind the Holy Spirit, tongues and the Fire Baptism).
Jesus Christ Born During....
Grant Jeffrey in his book "Armageddon Appointment With
Destiny" says, "Although there is no clear, scriptural proof of the exact date
of the birth of Christ, John's Gospel is very suggestive that the day was in fact the
Feast of Tabernacles when he uses the unusual word "tabernacled"
to describe the birth of Christ. "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt [tabernacled -
in the Greek] among us" (John 1:4). He also says, "it is a well attested
phenomenon reported by many Christian scholars, including Donald Guthrie in his New
Testament Introduction (page 282), that the gospel of John is arranged to illustrate the
life of Christ in the sequences of the Jewish liturgical seasons and feast days."
"Saint John in the authoritative Jerusalem Bible states... this gospel... relates the
life of Jesus to the Jewish liturgical year, and associates his miracles with the
principal feasts."
Mr. Jeffrey goes on to say, "R.H. Lightfoot in his 'St. Johns Gospel - A
Commentary', also describes this gospel's focus on this phenomenon... 'each of the
sections is connected, more or less closely, with a festival of the Jewish sacred year.'
He states that this feast is "sometimes referred to as the great "Harvest
Home" which occurred at the END of the fruit harvest (Sept-Oct)." The FEAST OF
FIRSTFRUITS is known as Passover.
Booths...
Recently, our Lord has shown me that the Tabernacle, or booth,
represents both the individual's body of flesh, and the temporary earth family. This
is confirmed, as we read above, in John 1:4, "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt
[tabernacled] among us". This Feast symbolizes the replacement of our old
fleshy, and very temporary, bodies and families, with the one permanent Temple, who is
Christ's Body, and all of God's family.
New Unger's Bible Dictionary says the following regarding "Booths"
[TABERNACLES]: "The antitype of Booths (or Tabernacles; (Lev. 23:33-43) has not yet
appeared. Peter anticipated it, however, on the MOUNT OF TRANSFIGURATION when he said,
"Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here,
one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah" (Matt. 17:4). What Peter desired,
the dwelling of heavenly and earthly people on the earth, was not possible in that age but
will be possible in the conditions of the mediatorial Davidic kingdom. Then the kingdom of
the heavens will bring heaven and earth in closer union. The feast of Booths [FEAST OF
TABERNACLES] is thus prophetic of Israel's {and Christians} millennial rest. The feast of
Booths is a memorial to Israel, going back to Egypt and forward to millennial rest, as the
Lord's Supper now points back to a finished redemption until Christ appears. The eighth
day following the Sabbath (Lev. 23:39) points to the new heaven and the new earth
following the Millennium and to the dispensation of the fullness of time before the
eternal state."
In the eternal state we will become what we are now rehearsing. We are told in
the Bible that we are to become ONE in Christ Jesus. The only word translated as
'evil' (as in the Tree of KNOWLEDGE of Good and Evil) in the Old Testament, is defined as,
"bad or (as noun) evil (natural or moral)". The primitive root this word
is taken from, teaches us what is 'evil' in God's eyes. It is defined as such:
"to spoil (literally, by breaking to pieces); ... to make (or be) good for
nothing...". As Christians, we all share the same mind and Spirit of God.
In this Spirit and Mind, we are all one. Our decisions, behavior, character
and morality are confined within the parameters of God's own Spirit, Mind, and Heart and
nature. Just as "He {Jesus Christ} is the image of the invisible God, the
firstborn over all creation", we are being Created in God's image through Him.
"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are
on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in
Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the
beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell..." (NKJ)
God is one. We, on earth, are separated and
individualistic. We are SELF worshipers. This nature is the cause of was,
disagreement and prejudices. In our new 'risen state' we will become one in God's
Spirit, who is Christ Jesus. We will leave the separated individual flesh 'booths'
we now inhabit, and become one in the permanent Temple, Christ Jesus.
MOUNT OF TRANSFIGURATION:
Except for recognizing that the Mount of Transfiguration happened to
Jesus; we don't hear too much about this event, and how it pertains to the Christian life.
This seems to be one of those areas in the Bible, that none of us fully understands.
Regarding this, I have received a real tugging in my spirit and mind, over the last few
months. I believe that the Mount of Transfiguration shows us more than we have previously
understood; and I am just now beginning to hear God's teaching on this. After some
research for this message, I present the following information. I still feel that I am not
seeing the full picture, and pray that Jesus Christ show us His fullness.
I have thought and thought, and asked God what connection there is between Moses and
Elijah. Why them, as opposed to another set of prophets. I believe the answer to this:
both men saw the Glory of God before dying, as Jesus Christ did on the Mount. We are told
that Moses had to veil his face to protect the Israelites from the glare after He
"went up" and saw the LORD, our Father. The Bible also tells us that
Elijah was "taken up" without seeing death.
Notice, in Luke that the last thing Jesus speaks about before going tot he Mount of
Transfiguration is the "GLORY of Himself and the Father", AND THE KINGDOM OF
GOD.
(Luke 9:20-27) "He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter
answered and said, "The Christ of God." And He strictly warned and commanded
them to tell this to no one, saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be
rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the
third day.' Then He said to them all, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him
deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his
life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is
it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is
ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when HE COMES IN HIS OWN
GLORY, AND IN HIS FATHER'S, AND OF THE HOLY ANGELS. But I tell you truly, there are some
standing here who shall not taste death till THEY SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD." (NKJ)
Then Jesus takes Peter, who has just identified Jesus as the Son of God (through
revelation knowledge from the Father), with two other of the disciples (who had also been
present during His conversation about the Glory and the Kingdom of God) up to the Mount Of
Transfiguration with Him. THEY SEE THE "GLORY" and KINGDOM OF GOD, prior to
tasting death.
(Luke 9:28-35) "Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He
took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. And as He prayed, the
APPEARANCE OF HIS FACE WAS ALTERED, AND HIS ROBE BECAME WHITE AND GLISTENING. And behold,
two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, WHO APPEARED IN GLORY and spoke of His
decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and those with him were
heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, THEY SAW HIS GLORY AND THE TWO MEN WHO
STOOD WITH HIM. Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus,
"Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for
You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah"-- not knowing what he said. While he was
saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the
cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear
Him!"
Matthew said, "...{Jesus} was (A)TRANSFIGURED before them:
and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold,
there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. (KJV)
(A) TRANSFIGURED:
"to (1)transform ("(2)METAMORPHOSE")".
[Strong's Concordance Of The Bible]
(1) TRANSFORM
"to change the nature, function, or condition of; to convert;
to change markedly the form or appearance of". [American Heritage Dictionary]
(2) METAMORPHOSE "a
marked change in appearance, character, condition or function". [American
Heritage Dictionary]
Obviously, the Glory of God produces a complete and total change in those who
experience it. I believe that this will occur to us at the INGATHERING. I believe that
this is why God will bring all of His Beloveds into IN ONE ACCORD, in ONE PLACE, at ONE
TIME, as He has told me He will. He has also told me, that it is only in this state that
we truly represent the Body of Jesus Christ. This is the completed Body. There
exists only one Head on every Body. Jesus is the HEAD of His Body; therefore, it is
necessary that all members of that Body be in ONE ACCORD. We want to hear God, and begin
to PRACTICE listening to the HEAD now.
I am not sure that the harvest is limited to one ingathering. Just like any
harvest, there may be more than one "gathering" of the crops/harvest. I KNOW
that, eventually, all of those in Christ Jesus will be brought into ONE ACCORD, ONE PLACE
at ONE TIME. I only question whether God is saying this will be accomplished in "one
gathering", or more than one gathering, with the final result being "all
gathered". For example, the Bible tells us that on the Day of Pentecost, 120
people were present, and that "THEY WERE ALL WITH ONE ACCORD IN ONE PLACE."
As we know, you and I have been added to this "gathering" since then,
through our receiving Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Fire Baptism. The final
INGATHERING will embody "all" who have become members in Body of Christ,
throughout all ages.
God has shown me that a group, perhaps all, of His Believers, after being taken up and
changed, will be returned to earth to serve Him.
I realize that we do not see the Bride lowered until later, after the Millennium.
However, earlier in the Book of Revelation, we read, "The light of a lamp shall not
shine in you anymore, and THE VOICE OF BRIDEGROOM AND BRIDE SHALL NOT BE HEARD
IN YOU ANYMORE... " (Rev 18:23). Revelations 18:23 indicates to me that the Bride was
present on earth, and THEN "TAKEN UP". All who possess the Holy
Spirit are of the Bride; therefore, the Bride has been present on earth since She was
received into the hearts of men and women, through our Savior and Husband Jesus Christ.
I believe that Revelation 18:23, is after the first "taking up" of the
saints. I believe that as of this verse, God's Beloveds have been changed into a new form,
as Jesus was at the Mount of Transfiguration, and returned to earth. They have been
serving God. In Revelation 18:23, we are seeing them "taken up" again, this time
into Heaven. I believe Revelation 18:23 is speaking of the removal of the Bride.
These are those who the Holy Spirit and/or the Groom spoke through on earth.
God has told me that there will be a time of "darkness" in which His Beloveds
will literally shine in the darkness, and the unsaved (also baby Christian) will literally
run towards them in order to receive Him, and His blessings. I believe that the
"shine" God spoke of; is the same "transfiguration" spoken of when
Jesus was "taken up" on the mountain and transfigured. In my own mind, I see
this happening during the Tribulation time.
THE TABERNACLE (Old Testament)
In the Old Testament, the TABERNACLE was a moveable
tent (wooden sides with cloth top); and was moved from place to place (ie in the desert),
as Israel relocated.. Later the Tabernacle was replaced by the stationary temple
(stone/rock and mortar). The Tabernacle was composed of two parts, the Tabernacle proper
(Heb. mishkan) and the "TENT OVER THE TABERNACLE" ('ohel, Exo. 26:7))...
God's Glory Fills The Tabernacle...
"The design of the Tabernacle is thus stated: 'LET THEM CONSTRUCT A SANCTUARY FOR ME,
THAT I MAY DWELL AMONG THEM' (Exo. 25:8). This sanctuary was styled 'the tent of
meeting'... between Jehovah and His people. The Lord said, 'I will meet with you, to speak
to you there" 29:42); "and I will dwell among the Sons of Israel and will be
their God' (v. 45). Thus the Tabernacle and all that pertained to it were typical of the
presence of God with His people. In accordance with this promise, the glory of Jehovah
filled the Tabernacle, but His presence was manifested to the people in the pillar of
cloud and fire above the sacred structure 40:34-38; Num. 9:15-23). The fiery cloud by day
moved at God's direction and thus prefigured His guidance. The entire divine institution
portrayed the approach of God's redeemed people to His presence." (New Unger's)
Notice, above, that God's Glory filled the Tabernacle. Our body is the Tabernacle
and in it we meet with Him. Jesus Christ is the Holy Of Holies, also called the
Tabernacle. In Him we come together as one not only with Him but with all our past,
present and future brothers and sisters.
Nelson's Bible Dictionary says, "The inner, western room was called the HOLY OF
HOLIES...and it contained only one piece of furniture-- the holiest item in the
tabernacle, the ark of the covenant {Jesus Christ is the New Covenant}... The lid of the
ark was called the MERCY SEAT.
The outer, eastern room was called the Holy Place... it was entered through the blue,
scarlet, and purple linen curtains which served as a door...
Up to this time, the nation of Israel had used a temporary tent CALLED THE TABERNACLE
OF THE CONGREGATION...
When the tribes were camped, two silver trumpets were used to summon the tribes to
gather at the tabernacle. The tabernacle was also the place where the 70 elders advised
and counseled the people... It was also the place of specific judgments... and
appointments....
The phrase is also translated TABERNACLE OF THE CONGREGATION Ex. 27:21), (KJV) and tent
of meeting (RSV)." (from Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary)
The Tabernacle is called the "Tabernacle
Of Witness":
(Acts 7:44) "Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as
He appointed, instructing Moses to make it according to the pattern that he had seen"
(NKJ).
The Tabernacle is called the
"Tabernacle Of Meeting":
"The tent which Moses pitched outside the camp before the TABERNACLE was
built Ex. 33:7). After the tabernacle itself was built, it also was often called by this
name Ex. 38:8), signifying the meeting of God with His people." (from Nelson's
Illustrated Bible Dictionary)
"Tent, or Tabernacle, of Meeting. Two compound phrases were used in Scripture...
the Tabernacle of meeting, "WHERE I WILL MEET WITH YOU"...; AND "THE TENT
OF THE TESTIMONY"... In the latter case the tent derived its name from that which was
the center of its holiness, i.e., the two tables of stone within the Ark, which were
emphatically the testimony... (Unger's Bible Dictionary)
We need to concentrate, for a moment, on one of God's "latter day" promises.
This promise is being fulfilled, today, in more Christians than ever before.
He promises to write Himself in our hearts, so that by nature we will conform to God's
Word. Of course, God is the Word; and therefore, His nature is the Word
expressed. Confirmation of this promise is found in the following verses:
(Jer 31:31-34) "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will
make a new covenant {Jesus Christ} with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah
-- not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took
them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though
I was a husband to them, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I
will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My
law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall
be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his
brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to
the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I
will remember no more." (NKJ)
Keep in mind the following verses, "For as many of you as were baptized into
Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew {Israelite} nor Greek, there is
neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in
Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise. (Gal 3:27-29; NKJ)
(Heb 8:1-13) "Now this is the main point of the things we are saying:
We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty
in the heavens, a Minister of the sanctuary and of the TRUE TABERNACLE which the
Lord erected, and not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer both
gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to
offer. For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are
priests who offer the gifts according to the law; who serve the copy and shadow of the
heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle.
For He said, 'See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the
mountain.' But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He
is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought
for a second. Because finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are
coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant {Jesus Christ} with the house of
Israel {to them first, then to the Gentile, through Jesus} and with the house of Judah
{Jew} -- not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day
when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they
did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. For
this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel {to them first, then to the
Gentile, through Jesus} after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind
and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, 'Know
the Lord,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I
will remember no more. In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the
first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish
away. (NKJ)
Romans 8:1-4 tells us, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in
Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and
death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through
the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on
account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of
the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but
according to the Spirit.
(NKJ)
AND
"You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you
are an epistle {written message} of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink
but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that
is, of the heart. (2 Cor 3:2-3; NKJ)
TABERNACLE OF ISRAEL
"Its {tabernacle's} chief interest to us lies in its having descended from
the first word ever applied in the OT to a local sanctuary, BETHEL, "THE HOUSE OF
GOD" (Gen. 28:17), keeping its place side by side with other words-- tent,
Tabernacle, palace, Temple, synagogue-- and at last outliving them all; rising in the
Christian Ecclesia to yet higher uses (1 Tim. 3:15), "HOUSE OF GOD," (KJV);
"HOUSEHOLD OF GOD," (NASB); "GOD'S HOUSEHOLD," (NIV).
PLACE OF SANCTITY (saintliness: godliness; quality of being
sacred). The Tabernacle was also referred to as a place of sanctity ..., the holy,
consecrated place... "sanctuary"). The terms were applied, according to the
consecrated scale of holiness of which THE TABERNACLE BORE WITNESS, SOMETIMES TO THE WHOLE
STRUCTURE,... sometimes to the innermost sanctuary, the Holy of Holies..." (Nelson's
Bible Dictionary)
What Is The Feast Of Tabernacles...
Vine's Expository Dictionary of the Bible, defines "tabernacle" as,
"(miskan); tent meeting; DWELLING PLACE. God dwelt among His people in the
wilderness, and His presence was...manifest in the tent meeting... The tabernacle was
mobile".
In Samuel 7:6, the LORD (Jehovah; the Eternal Self Existent) says, "For I have not
dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even
to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle." (NKJ)
Regarding the temple, and not the "tabernacle", Vine's says, "Solomon
built it and the finished structure was known as the house', the temple, INSTEAD OF
THE "DWELLING PLACE (miskan)". Vine's also says, "in non-religious use
"miskan" {tabernacle} is the dwelling place' of an INDIVIDUAL (Num 16:24)
of Israel (Num 24:5), and OF STRANGERS (Hab 1:6)".
The Feast of Tabernacles is also called, "Feast of the Harvest; ...because it was
held AFTER THE INGATHERING OF THE HARVEST AND FRUITS. The festival of Jehovah (Heb. hag
YHWH, ..., "feast of the LORD"), or simply the festival..., "the
feast"), because it was the most important or well known." (Unger's Bible
Dictionary)
New Unger's goes on to say that this Feast "unites two elements: THE INGATHERING
OF THE LABOR OF THE FIELD (EXO. 23:16), THE FRUIT OF THE EARTH (Lev. 23:39)-- OR THE
INGATHERING OF THE THRESHING FLOOR AND THE WINE PRESS (Deut. 16:13)-- and the dwelling in
booths, which were to be matters of joy to Israel (Lev. 23:41-43; Deut. 16:14). The
dwelling in booths was to be a reminder to them of the Fatherly care and protection of
Jehovah while Israel was journeying from Egypt to Canaan (Deut. 8:7-18). In
comparison with the 'house of bondage' the dwelling in booths on the march through the
wilderness was in itself an image of freedom and happiness' (K. &D., Com., ad loc.).
Such a reminder of God's loving care and Israel's dependence would, naturally, keep the
Israelites from pride and conceit.
Mosaic Observance: On the first day of the feast,
booths were constructed of fresh branches of fruit and palm trees, boughs of leafy
trees and willows.' These were located in courts, streets, public squares, and on house
roofs. In these all home-born Israelites were to dwell during the festival, in memory of
their fathers' dwelling in booths after their exodus from Egypt"... The booth in
Scripture is not an image of privation and misery but of protection, preservation, and
shelter from heat, storm, and tempest... Each bull, ram, and lamb was accompanied with its
prescribed grain and drink offering {Communion}... Every sabbatical year the law was to be
read publicly in the sanctuary on the FIRST DAY of the festival (Deut. 31:10-13). THE SIX
FOLLOWING DAYS WERE HALF FESTIVALS, probably devoted to social enjoyments and friendly
gatherings, WHEN EVERY FAMILY HEAD WAS TO EXTEND HOSPITALITY, ESPECIALLY TO THE POOR AND
THE STRANGER (16:14). To these seven days there was added an eighth". (from New
Unger's Bible Dictionary)
The Tabernacle of God is...
With regards to the Feast of Tabernacles, Grant
Jeffrey says the following (Armageddon Appointment With Destiny), "skenoo"
(dwelt)... comes from a word, defined by Strong's Concordance Of The Bible as, a hut
or temporary residence, i.e... THE HUMAN BODY (AS THE ABODE OF THE SPIRIT)'; and this word
comes from a tent or cloth hut (literally or figuratively)', which comes from two
words meaning, (1) A VESSEL, implement, equipment or apparatus (literally or
figuratively [SPECIFICALLY, A WIFE {Bride} AS CONTRIBUTING TO THE USEFULNESS OF THE
HUSBAND])' and (2) shade" or a shadow...'."
Our own individual physical body, is now
the home of the Holy Spirit:
(2 Cor 5:1-4) "For we know that if our earthly house, this tent (TABERNACLE,
KJV), is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in
the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly DESIRING TO BE CLOTHED WITH OUR HABITATION
WHICH IS FROM HEAVEN, IF INDEED, HAVING BEEN CLOTHED, WE SHALL NOT BE FOUND NAKED. FOR WE
WHO ARE IN THIS TENT (TABERNACLE, KJV) GROAN, BEING BURDENED, NOT BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE
UNCLOTHED, BUT FURTHER CLOTHED, THAT MORTALITY MAY BE SWALLOWED UP BY LIFE. (NKJ)
AND
(2 Pet 1:13-14) "Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent
(TABERNACLE, KJV), to stir you up by reminding you, knowing that shortly I must put off my
tent (TABERNACLE), just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. (NKJ)
Did you notice that Paul said, "DESIRING TO BE CLOTHED WITH OUR HABITATION
{tabernacle} WHICH IS FROM HEAVEN, IF INDEED, HAVING BEEN CLOTHED, WE SHALL NOT BE FOUND
NAKED", and "NOT BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE UNCLOTHED, BUT FURTHER CLOTHED, that
mortality may be swallowed up by life." We understand then, that God will COVER US
with Himself; He is the Tabernacle; and of course, He will continue to live in us.
New Unger's states, "The Tabernacle in comprehensive terms is set forth in the NT
as typical in three ways: (1) of the church, as "a dwelling of God in the
Spirit"..., (2) of the believer who is "a temple of the Holy Spirit" ...,
(3) as a portrayal of heavenly reality ... In its minute details the Tabernacle speaks of
Christ. This is true of the high priest, the furniture, the ritual, and the worship. (from
New Unger's Bible Dictionary)
The individual 'tabernacles/booths' represent our own personal body, our TEMPORARY
bodies while on earth. Through Jesus Christ, our bodies are FREE and no longer in bondage.
Each saved Believer, who has received the Holy Spirit, is a "DWELLING PLACE" of
God.
he Feast of Tabernacles brings the individual temporary body of each individual man
{past, present and future} into the permanent TABERNACLE of God {future}, not made with
hands. New Unger's says, ""IN ALL SPECIAL FACTS CONNECTED WITH THE TABERNACLE
THE ORIGINAL THOUGHT REAPPEARS. IT IS THE PLACE WHERE MAN MEETS WITH GOD...".
I believe that the most important thing to remember about the Feast of Tabernacles, is
that the TABERNACLE is both a "dwelling place" of God INDIVIDUALLY and IN UNITY.
All individual booths/tabernacles {persons/families} come together into the TABERNACLE of
God; and the TABERNACLE OF GOD covers the congregation.
Psalms shows us, that the "tabernacle" is God's (our Father's) protection;
and in the Old Testament it is a promise of the coming of Jesus Christ. (Ps 27:5-6)
"For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in His (A)pavilion
[TABERNACLE]; in the secret place of His tabernacle he shall hide me; HE SHALL SET ME HIGH
UPON A ROCK {Jesus Christ}. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around
me; therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will
sing praises to the LORD" (NKJ).
(A) PAVILION:
"a hut (as of entwined boughs); also a lair". This word comes
from the Hebrew word defined as:
"to
ENTWINE as a screen; TO FENCE IN, COVER OVER, PROTECT:- JOIN
TOGETHER...". This same description is used to define
Tabernacle.
[It is interesting to note, that the word "garden", as
in the 'Garden in Eden', is defined as: "a garden (AS FENCED)". This word
comes from "TO HEDGE ABOUT, i.e.. (generally) PROTECT".]
God intends to take us back into His original
creation which was prior to the fall of mankind. In His Temple we re hedged about,
and protected in His love.
In the Old Testament, "tabernacle" also signifies the Holy Of Holies. In the
physical temple, the Holy Of Holies was the inner most part of the temple/tabernacle.
Only the High Priest was allowed enter into it. He entered one time a year to make
atonement for his own, and the congregation's (Israel's) sins. Our Father told me, some
years ago, that Jesus Christ is the Holy Of Holies in His Temple/Body.
(Heb 9:6) "Now when these things have been thus prepared, the priests are
continually entering the outer tabernacle, performing the divine worship, but into the
second only the high priest {enters} once a year, not without {taking} blood, which he
offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit
{is} signifying this, that the way into the holy place {Jesus Christ} has not yet been
disclosed, while the outer tabernacle is still standing, which {is} a symbol for the
present time. Accordingly both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot MAKE THE
WORSHIPER PERFECT IN CONSCIENCE, since they {relate} only to food and drink and various
washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation. But WHEN CHRIST
APPEARED {AS} A HIGH PRIEST of the good things to come, {He entered} THROUGH THE GREATER
AND MORE PERFECT TABERNACLE, NOT MADE WITH HANDS, that is to say, not of this creation;
and not through the blood of goats and calves, but THROUGH HIS OWN BLOOD, HE ENTERED THE
HOLY PLACE ONCE FOR ALL, having obtained eternal redemption.
AND
(Heb 8:1) "Now the main point in what has been said {is this} we have
such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty
in the heavens, A MINISTER IN THE SANCTUARY HOLY OF HOLIES), AND IN THE TRUE TABERNACLE,
WHICH THE LORD PITCHED, not man"; and, "Therefore, brothers, since we have
confidence to ENTER THE MOST HOLY PLACE BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS, by a new and living way
opened (TO RENEW) for us through the curtain, that is, HIS BODY" (Heb 10:19-20).
The NEW TESTAMENT TABERNACLE...
(John 1:14) "And the Word became flesh and (A)dwelt
[TABERNACLED] among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father, full of grace and truth. (NKJ)
(A) DWELT:
" to tent or encamp, i.e. to occupy (as a (1)MANSION)
or (specifically) to reside (as God did in the Tabernacle of old, a symbol of protection
and communion)". This word comes from:
"a hut or temporary residence, i.e.
THE HUMAN BODY (AS THE ABODE
OF THE
SPIRIT)". This word comes from:
"a tent or cloth hut"
(1) (John 14:2-4) "In My Father's house are MANY MANSIONS;
if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again and RECEIVE YOU TO MYSELF; THAT WHERE I AM,
THERE YOU MAY BE ALSO. And where I go you know, and the way you know." (NKJ)]
OF THE ANTICHRIST , Jesus says, (Rev 13:5-7) "And he was given a
mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for
forty-two months. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, TO BLASPHEME HIS
NAME, HIS TABERNACLE {Jesus Christ, and those living in Him, and Him in them}, and those
who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome
them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation" (NKJ).
In Revelation 21:3, "And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold,
the TABERNACLE OF GOD IS WITH MEN, and He will dwell (SHALL SPREAD HIS TABERNACLE/SELF
OVER; TO PITCH A TENT) with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with
them and be their God" (NKJ).
Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words says the word "dwelt" (KJV)
means, "TO TABERNACLE"...; SHALL SPREAD (HIS) TABERNACLE (RV)", or
tent." Did you notice that Rev 21:3 said that God will "spread" Himself,
His Tabernacle "over"; and dwell with us. Below God speaks of the
"birth" of Israel; please notice the similarity in the wording used:
(Ezek 16:2-12) "Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, and say,
'Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: "Your birth and your nativity are from the land
of Canaan; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. As for your nativity, on
the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water {the water
of the Word; water Baptism} to cleanse you; you were not rubbed with salt {the covenant}
nor swathed in swaddling cloths. No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to
have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself
were loathed on the day you were born. AND WHEN I PASSED BY YOU AND SAW YOU STRUGGLING IN
YOUR OWN BLOOD, I SAID TO YOU IN YOUR BLOOD, 'LIVE!' YES, I SAID TO YOU IN YOUR BLOOD,
'LIVE!' I made you thrive like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured, and became
very beautiful {Holy}. Your breasts were formed, your hair grew, but you were naked and
bare {as Adam and Eve}. When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time
was the time of LOVE; so I SPREAD MY SKIRT {WING} OVER YOU AND COVERED YOUR NAKEDNESS.
Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became
Mine," says the Lord GOD. Then I washed you in water; yes, I thoroughly washed off
your blood, and I anointed you with oil {Holy Spirit}... And I put a jewel in your nose,
earrings in your ears, and A BEAUTIFUL CROWN ON YOUR HEAD. {All the following is symbolic
of the Temple/Tabernacle-} Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing
was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate pastry of fine flour, honey, and
oil. You were exceedingly beautiful {Holy}, and succeeded to royalty. Your fame went out
among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through My splendor which I
had bestowed on you," says the Lord GOD. (NKJ)
In Acts, Luke tells us, "Simeon has related how God first concerned Himself about
taking from among the Gentiles a people for His name. And with this, the words of the
Prophets agree, just as it is written, After these things I will return, and I WILL
REBUILD THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID WHICH HAS FALLEN, and I will rebuild its ruins, and I will
restore it, IN ORDER THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK THE LORD, AND ALL THE GENTILES WHO
ARE CALLED BY MY NAME,' (Acts 15:14-16; NAS)
(Amos 9:11-13) "On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has
fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the
days of old; That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the Gentiles who are
called by My name," says the LORD who does this thing. Behold, the days are
coming," says the LORD, "When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the
treader of grapes him who sows seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the
hills shall flow with it. (NKJ)
The Feast of Tabernacles, or the INGATHERING is the bringing together of God's Beloveds
into ONE ACCORD, ONE PLACE at ONE TIME. God is the TABERNACLE of Holiness covering those
who have the Holy Spirit residing in them. I expect it to begin with the sound of a loud
trumpet (Feast of Trumpets), calling us together into the ONE BODY, who is Jesus Christ
(the head of His Body). All members of this Body (His) will have received atonement
through His ONE BLOOD (Day Of Atonement). As we come together in our COMPLETE ONENESS IN
HIS BODY, we are told in Revelations 21, "I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem,
coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as A BRIDE ADORNED FOR HER HUSBAND. And I
heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "BEHOLD, THE TABERNACLE OF GOD IS WITH MEN,
AND HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM, AND THEY SHALL BE HIS PEOPLE. God Himself will be with them
and be their God. (Rev 21:2-3; NKJ)
God is the TABERNACLE, covering all those in Him (and His Bride); AND HE WILL
DWELL/TABERNACLE WITH THEM FOREVER! Indeed, we earnestly DESIRE TO BE CLOTHED WITH OUR
HABITATION WHICH IS FROM HEAVEN, IF INDEED, HAVING BEEN CLOTHED, WE SHALL NOT BE FOUND
NAKED. FOR WE WHO ARE IN THIS TENT (TABERNACLE] GROAN, BEING BURDENED, NOT BECAUSE WE WANT
TO BE UNCLOTHED, BUT FURTHER CLOTHED, THAT MORTALITY MAY BE SWALLOWED UP BY LIFE.
If you would like to print this and share it with
your brothers and sisters in Christ, or the world, please feel free
to do so. However, I ask that you always leave my name on the
messages God writes through me; and never sell them. Thank you so much for your love.
